Top NBA Odds, Picks & Predictions: Thursday (12/8)

Here are our two favorite bets for tonight’s small NBA slate.

DraftKings NBA Offer: Bet $5, Win $200

Los Angeles Clippers @ Miami Heat (-4.5 | O/U: 216)

Two of our least favorite teams to bet on the matchup in South Beach on Thursday night, as the 11-14 Heat host the 14-12 Clippers. Neither Los Angeles nor Miami has an above .500 record ATS, and in lieu of backing a side, we choose to find an edge on the total.

The Clippers continue a four-game road stretch tonight and on the tail-end of a back-to-back. Last night, Los Angeles blew a 32-14 lead in the first quarter and ultimately fell to Orlando in overtime. There could be some heavy legs on the LAC bench tonight, as six players logged 30+ minutes on Wednesday. Further, don’t be surprised to see Kawhi Leonard and Paul George absent from the court tonight due to ‘load management.’ The two stars have missed extensive time this season, and in their absence, the team has managed to keep pace in the West much due to stellar defense.

Conversely, the Heat are dealing with an extensive injury report themselves and have been one of the least efficient offenses in the NBA. Miami is notorious for having such injury reports, and it is likely many of these names play, but the number of players listed as Questionable remains a concern.

Both of these teams tend under on the season and may be absent their most crucial facilitators on offense. Bet this number now, with a chance it ticks further down before tip-off.

Bet: Under 216 (-145)

Houston Rockets @ San Antonio Spurs (+1.5 | O/U: 231.5)

After starting the season a surprising 5-2, the Spurs have nosedived to a 6-18 record. The team has been particularly bad ATS, covering once in their past 10 games, and I’m less than inclined to endorse them to buck this trend tonight.

The Spurs are inarguably the worst team in the NBA. On the year, San Antonio has both the worst offense and defensive rating in the league– no easy feat. Houston hasn’t been much better, but their young core has at least shown promise.

Simply, we’re not betting on San Antonio amid a disastrous season.

Bet: Rockets -1.5 (-105)
