Wildcats sign injury replacement import
Sep 6, 2017 - 3:13 AM The Perth Wildcats have signed 201cm-American Jean-Pierre Tokoto for the upcoming NBL season.Tokoto joins the club as an injury replacement for Devondrick Walker, who will miss most of the season after fracturing his foot at training.
Tokota was selected by Philadelphia 76ers with pick No.58 in the 2015 NBA draft.
The 23-year-old was then signed by the New York Knicks in August last year, but he wasn't able to break through for an NBA game at either club.
He most recently represented the Utah Jazz at the NBA Summer League, where coincidently he played alongside Walker.
Tokoto's family has a rich sporting history, with his grandfather representing Cameroon at the 1982 FIFA World Cup.
The athletic American said he was looking forward to his first stint in Australia.
"I've heard great things about Australia and about Perth the city, and especially about this team," he said.
"It's a winning culture at the Wildcats and everybody wants to be a part of a winning culture, so it was an easy decision for me."
The Wildcats' start their title defence at home to Brisbane on October 7.
