Another 6-0 run a bit later helped UConn take a 33-25 lead into the halftime break.

The Huskies, though, went on a 12-3 run as Temple went close to 10 minutes without a field goal after Cummings' 3-ball. Napier's layup and free throw made it a 52-38 game with under seven minutes to play.

DeCosey scored nine straight points as his slam with under three minutes to play made it a 56-47 game, but the team was unable to get closer than seven back the rest of the way.
