Jan 15, 2014 - 6:43 AM Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Talib Zanna posted 22 points and nine rebounds as No. 22 Pittsburgh took an 81-74 win over Georgia Tech on Tuesday.James Robinson posted 16 points and five assists while Cameron Wright had 14 points for the Panthers (16-1, 4-0 ACC), who have won six straight.
Trae Golden had 22 points and Marcus Georges-Hunt added 13 for the Yellow Jackets (10-7, 1-3), who have dropped three of their last four.
"I'm disappointed in our defense right now," Georgia Tech head coach Brian Gregory said. "We're not playing defense the way you need to play in this league and obviously we didn't rebound tonight worth anything."
Golden hit a 3-pointer with 49 seconds to play to cut Georgia Tech's deficit to 75-70, but Zanna countered with a pair of free throws.
After Golden made two from the line, Robinson made 1-of-2 and Golden followed with two more free throws to make it a four-point game with 29 seconds left.
Michael Young made his pair from the line to again make it a six-point game, and Chris Bolden missed a 3 at the other end.
Bolden, though, stole the ball from Young, but again missed on a 3 and Lamar Patterson hit a free throw with seven seconds left to put the game away.
Georgia Tech held a 22-20 lead with just over seven minutes to play in the first half after Georges-Hunt hit a 3-ball, and the game stayed tight over the final minutes of the half.
A 6-0 run by the Yellow Jackets put the team up 35-30, but Robinson countered with a jumper to make it a three-point game at the break.
Pitt used a 9-0 run early in the second half to take the lead for good, and the team had a 52-43 advantage with 10 1/2 minutes left after Wright put in a jumper.
"I was really happy how we came out in the second half," Pittsburgh head coach Jamie Dixon said. "We knew what we had to do and we did it."
