Wichita State hosts Kennesaw State in Las Vegas Classic
Dec 19, 2006 - 5:04 PM Kennesaw St (2-7) at No. 8 Wichita St (8-0) 8:00 pm ESTWICHITA, Kansas (Ticker) -- Eighth-ranked Wichita State faces Kennesaw State for the first time Tuesday in the Las Vegas Classic.
The Shockers are coming off a 102-46 rout of Maryland-Eastern Shore on Sunday. PJ Couisnard scored 21 points and Karon Bradley added 14.
Kyle Wilson had 12 points and eight rebounds and Phillip Thomasson finished with 11 and six for Wichita State, which shot 65 percent (39-of-60) overall from the floor.
With a win, the Shockers can match a school record for the best start which was set by the 2004-05 team.
Meanwhile, the Owls absorbed their third setback in a row, an 84-52 loss to Kansas State on Sunday.
Ronell Wooten scored nine points and freshman Jon-Michael Nickerson added eight and three steals for Kennesaw State, which went just 4-of-21 from the arc. The remainder of the Classic will be held in Las Vegas starting Friday.
