Wall, TCU shock No. 13 Air Force

Feb 25, 2007 - 3:07 AM FORT WORTH, Texas (Ticker) -- Ryan Wall easily made up for his previous performance against Air Force.

Wall scored 19 points off the bench as TCU snapped an 11-game losing streak with a 71-66 victory over the No. 13 Falcons in a Mountain West Conference shocker.

The result was completely unexpected as the Horned Frogs (11-15, 3-11 MWC) had lost their previous five home games and failed to crack 40 points in their last matchup with the Falcons, a 72-39 rout on January 23.

Wall turned things around with his shooting. After missing all of his 3-point attempts and failing to score in the previous meeting with Air Force, Wall shot 5-of-7 from the field and 4-of-5 from the arc.

Holding a 25-24 edge at the half, TCU shot 15-of-20 (75 percent), including 5-of-7 on 3-pointers, en route to recording its first win over a ranked foe since a 71-46 victory over Louisville on February 17, 2004, a span of seven games.

Alvardo Parker scored 12 points and Brent Hackett added 11 for TCU, which snapped a four-game losing streak to Air Force.

The Falcons (23-6, 10-5) absorbed a second straight loss and fifth in their last six conference road games after once again struggling to find their touch.

Coming off a 60-50 setback at UNLV where it shot just 30 percent (16-of-53), Air Force slumped again, going 39.6 percent (19-of-48) from the floor and 10-of-34 on 3-pointers.

With the disappointing setback, the Falcons complicated their chances for the MWC regular-season title. Although Brigham Young also dropped an 86-74 decision at San Diego State on Saturday, Air Force is 1 1/2 games behind with one game remaining.

The Cougars, who travel to the Falcons on Tuesday, will also have to lose at Utah on March 3 to help Air Force's title hopes.

Matt McCraw scored 17 points and Nick Welch added 15 and seven rebounds for the Falcons, who were dominated in points in the paint, 32-18, and committed 17 turnovers that led to 24 points for the Horned Frogs.

Air Force leading scorer Dan Nwaelele mustered with just four points on 0-of-6 from the field, ending up 11 points shy of his season average.
