No. 2 Kansas keeps rolling, handles Texas Tech

Feb 2, 2011 - 4:53 AM Lubbock, TX (Sports Network) - Marcus Morris posted 18 points on 8-of-13 shooting, and second-ranked Kansas easily handled Texas Tech, 88-66, at United Spirit Arena.

Thomas Robinson added 17 points to go along with nine rebounds and Markieff Morris grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds with 11 points for the Jayhawks (21-1, 6-1 Big 12), who have won three straight since their lone loss of the season, a 74-63 setback to Texas on January 22.

John Roberson led the Red Raiders (11-12, 3-5) with a game-high 24 points. Mike Singletary added 12 points and eight rebounds for Texas Tech, which had a three-game winning streak snapped.

After opening the game with back-to-back Marcus Morris jumpers, the Jayhawks were quickly up 10, 14-4, following Marcus Morris' free throw at 14:29. The game quickly got out of hand as Markieff Morris added a powering dunk at 8:54 to extend Kansas' advantage to 30-12.

The Jayhawks lead remained around 20, and Marcus Morris capped the first half romp with a jumper inside the final minute to give Kansas a 50-29 lead at the break.

Marcus Morris finished the first half with 13 points and Robinson contributed nine points and six rebounds, as the Jayhawks shot 57.9 percent in the opening 20 minutes.

The second half was never in contention.
