No. 19 Wisconsin handles Michigan State

Feb 6, 2011 - 11:48 PM Madison, WI (Sports Network) - Jordan Taylor scored a game-high 30 points and added six assists, as 19th-ranked Wisconsin handled Michigan State, 82-56, in Big Ten action at the Kohl Center.

Jon Leuer donated 20 points and six rebounds, while Keaton Nankivil poured in 11 points for Wisconsin (17-5, 7-3 Big Ten), which has won two straight and five of six overall. The Badgers extended their home winning streak to 16 in a row.

"Defensively, I thought we did a nice job, offensively we did what we needed to do," Wisconsin head coach Bo Ryan said. "I don't know if we want to rely on a couple of those shots that we made all the time, in all fairness. But, you take those away and we were still pretty efficient offensively."

Kalin Lucas netted a team-best 20 points for Michigan State (13-10, 5-6), which has dropped five of six. Draymond Green went for 13 points in defeat.

"I haven't seen a barrage of shots made like that since I've been in the league," Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo said about the Badgers' offense.

Ahead by only a point nearly seven minutes into the contest, Wisconsin used a 14-2 run to gain some separation.

Tim Jarmusz hit a three-pointer to get the burst started and Leuer's triple finished it off to give the Badgers a 24-11 lead with 8:09 remaining before the half.

Wisconsin led by 19 following a Leuer dunk with 1:55 left and held a healthy 43-25 edge heading into the break.

The second half would be no contest for the Badgers, who opened up the stanza with a Leuer jumper and a short time later, Taylor's lay-in ignited an 18-4 run to essentially put the game out of reach.

Leuer's three-pointer, four straight free throws by Jarmusz and two makes at the stripe by Rob Wilson capped the run and gave the Badgers a 33-point advantage at 66-33 with 11:38 to play.

Despite the loss, Michigan State holds a 69-60 lead over Wisconsin in the all- time series...Jarmusz made all six of his free throws and finished with nine points for the Badgers, who shot 59 percent from the field and hit 11 three- pointers...Michigan State made 43.5 percent of its shots.
