No. 16 Washington edges No. 15 Oklahoma to go to 10-0

Dec 21, 2014 - 5:13 AM Las Vegas, NV (SportsNetwork.com) - Mike Anderson and Robert Upshaw scored 11 points apiece, helping No. 16 Washington beat 15th-ranked Oklahoma 69-67 Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

The Huskies (10-0) built a 20-point lead in the first half, but had to hold on down the stretch to continue the program's best start since going 11-0 to begin 2005-06.

Jernard Jarreau paced Washington with 12 points and grabbed six rebounds.

Isaiah Cousins and Buddy Hield both scored 17 points for Oklahoma (7-3), which had a three-game winning streak snapped. Ryan Spangler posted a double-double of 11 points and 13 rebounds in defeat.

Nigel Williams-Goss hit a floater in the lane to put Washington up 68-64 with 2:01 remaining. The bucket followed four consecutive missed shots by the Sooners.

After Oklahoma closed within 68-67, Andrew Andrews couldn't get a tough inside shot to fall for Washington. Jordan Woodard then missed a jumper from the left elbow.

Andrews was fouled on the rebound and made the first free throw attempt with 0.6 seconds left before intentionally missing the second. Oklahoma grabbed the rebound, but wasn't able to get a shot off following a timeout.

The teams went back-and-forth to begin the game, but Washington created separation with a 15-0 run over a three-minute stretch. Shawn Kemp Jr. capped the burst with a layup for a 26-10 Huskies lead.

Washington went up 37-17 on a Jarreau layup with 5:09 remaining in the first half.

The Sooners ended the frame on a 10-3 run and continued to chip away following the break.
