South Carolina stuns No. 9 Iowa State at Barclays Center

Jan 4, 2015 - 4:21 AM Brooklyn, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Duane Notice had 15 points and six rebounds to lead South Carolina in a 64-60 victory over No. 9 Iowa State.

Sindarius Thornwell scored 13 points with eight rebounds and Tyrone Johnson added 13 points and seven boards for the Gamecocks (9-3), who have won seven straight games.

Dustin Hogue and Jameel McKay each scored 15 points with six rebounds and Georges Niang added 10 points and eight rebounds for the Cyclones (10-2), who had a seven-game winning streak snapped.

Thornwell's jumper with just over a minute to play gave the Gamecocks a 63-57 lead, but Naz Long followed with a 3-ball to make it a one-possession game.

Demetrius Henry then turned the ball over, but Thornwell stole the ball off Long and hit 1-of-2 from the line with just 13 seconds left for a four-point lead.

Long and Bryce Dejean-Jones missed 3s at the other end in the final moments of the game.

South Carolina led for the entire first half, holding a 15-4 advantage after a pair of free throws from Johnson five minutes in.

Iowa State got a 7-0 run later in the half, and closed the first 20 minutes with the final six points to cut its deficit to 36-35 at the break.

A Niang jumper with 8 1/2 minutes to play gave the Cyclones their first lead of the game at 48-47, but a Laimonas Chatkevicius layup tied the game and started a 7-0 run that gave South Carolina a 56-51 lead with 4 1/2 minutes remaining.
