Syracuse basketball rallies for ailing Dwayne Washington

(AP) Coach Jim Boeheim and the Syracuse basketball community are rallying in support of Dwayne ''Pearl'' Washington, the former Orange star afflicted with brain cancer.(hash)PrayersforPearl has become a social media gathering point. ESPN college basketball analyst Jay Bilas gave the movement national exposure Monday. Bilas wore the all-orange ''Pearl'' warmup shirt that Syracuse players have donned on the bench in games since late January.
The 52-year-old Washington had surgery last August in Syracuse to treat the recurrence of a brain tumor. He has had the disease since 1995 and now requires around-the-clock care and a wheelchair.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise money for his expenses.
