(AP) Syracuse guard Kaleb Joseph, relegated to the bench for most of his sophomore season, is transferring, according to coach Jim Boeheim.Barry Connors of Cushing Academy in Massachusetts, Joseph's high school coach, said Joseph had not yet made a decision on a new school.
Joseph played in 19 games this past season, averaging only 6 minutes, and did not play in the Orange's four-game run to the Final Four. He started all but one of the team's 31 games as a freshman, but was passed over for the starting point guard spot in the offseason by fifth-year senior Michael Gbinije.
Freshman Frank Howard assumed the backup role to Gbinije during the second half of the 2015-16 season.
Joseph had 119 assists with 72 turnovers and averaged 5.9 points as a freshman.
