Xavier gives coach Chris Mack an additional year on contract
Apr 14, 2016 - 7:22 PM CINCINNATI (AP) Xavier gave coach Chris Mack got an extra year on his contract Thursday, extending the deal through the 2021-22 season.The Musketeers went 28-6 last season, were ranked No. 5 for the first time in history, and got a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament for the first time. They were upset by Wisconsin in the second round.
Xavier is 162-77 under Mack and has reached the NCAA tournament six times in his seven seasons, including the Sweet 16 three times. The Musketeers return the core of the team that finished second to national champion Villanova in the Big East.
The Musketeers announced that reserve point guard Larry Austin Jr. has decided to transfer to get more playing time. The sophomore averaged 1.8 points and 9.8 minutes last season.
