Georgia signs forward Diatta as transfer from Southern Idaho
Apr 20, 2016 - 9:17 PM ATHENS, Ga. (AP) Georgia has signed forward Pape Diatta (pronounced Pop Dee-ah-tuh), a native of Dakar, Senegal who has played the last two years for the College of Southern Idaho.The 6-foot-7, 210-pound Diatta averaged 13 points and 8.3 rebounds as a sophomore for Southern Idaho.
Coach Mark Fox says Diatta is versatile as a rebounder and 3-point shooter. Fox said in a statement released by Georgia he expects Diatta can ''step in and play right away.''
Diatta will have two seasons of eligibility remaining. He moved to the United States as a high school freshman and attended The Rock School in Gainesville, Florida.
