(12) TEXAS A&M 64, ARK PINE BLUFF 37 ------------------------------------

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (Ticker) -- Josh Carter scored 16 points as 12th-ranked Texas A&M cruised to an easy 64-37 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Sunday.

Derrick Rowland added 12 points for Texas A&M (9-1), which captured its 41st consecutive win at home against a non-conference foe.

While the Aggies had no problem extending their streak, they did not come close to the scoring output they had the last time out in a 109-73 victory over Texas State on December 8.

Four players were in double figures in that previous matchup as Texas A&M scored its most points since putting up 114 against Florida International on December 21, 1989.

Carter and the Aggies did start strong in this one, connecting on 13-of-26 (50 percent) of their shots in the first half en route to a 30-19 lead at the break. Carter had 10 points on 5-of-7 from the field.

Texas A&M continued its stellar shooting after the intermission, making five of its first six shots. Carter had a pair of 3-pointers during that span as the Aggies used a 14-2 run to grab a 44-21 lead with just under 16 minutes to play.

Bryan Davis had seven points and nine rebounds for Texas A&M, which finished 48 percent (27-of-56) from the field and held a 49-33 advantage on the boards.

Marcelle Goins scored 14 points for Arkansas-Pine Bluff (4-6), which shot 21 percent (13-of-63) in having a three-game winning streak snapped.

(22) ARIZONA 69, FRESNO ST 50 -----------------------------

TUCSON, Arizona (Ticker) -- Jerryd Bayless had 13 of his 21 points in the first half as the No. 22 Wildcats rolled to their fourth straight win with a 69-50 victory over Fresno State on Sunday.

Despite the fact that coach Lute Olson will not return for the rest of the season as he faces a divorce from his second wife, the freshman guard has begun to blossom into an impact scorer.

Going 8-of-14 from the field with four 3-pointers, Bayless reached 20 points for the fourth straight game. He has put up 88 points over that span, shooting 52 percent (29-of-56).

Arizona (7-2) has followed along behind the freshman, capturing key wins against Texas A&M and at Illinois during the span.

The Wildcats were trailing, 17-15, before Bayless looked for his shot, scoring 10 of their next 17 points to lift Arizona to a 32-19 lead with 2:54 remaining before halftime.

Bayless had two 3-pointers, a jumper and a dunk during the decisive 17-2 burst.

Leading, 35-19, at the half, the Wildcats continued to open up the contest behind Bayless, who scored seven straight points for his team to make it 50-26 with 12:30 remaining.

Kevin Bell scored 12 points and Hector Hernandez added 11 for the Bulldogs (5-5), who have lost four of their five road games this season.
