Top 25 roundup: Bluiett leads No. 15 Xavier past Wisconsin
Nov 17, 2017 - 5:48 AM MADISON, Wis. -- Xavier senior forward Trevon Bluiett scored a game-high 25 points -- including a pair of 3-pointers with less than two minutes left in the game -- as the No. 15 Musketeers held off Wisconsin 80-70 in a nonconference game at the Kohl Center on Thursday.Bluiett scored 21 points in the second half, including 10 points in the final 1:45.
Senior guard J.P. Macura delivered 20 points for Xavier (3-0), while Ethan Happ scored a team-high 21 points for the Badgers (2-1).
D'Mitrik Trice drilled a jumper to put Wisconsin ahead it 66-64 but Bluiett's two free throws tied things up at 66 with 2:25 left.
Bluiett then hit a 3-pointer with 1:47 to go and another with 1:07 remaining to put the Musketeers up by six.
No. 3 Arizona 91, Cal State Bakersfield 59
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Allonzo Trier led four Wildcats in scoring with a game-high 28 points to help Arizona cruise past Cal State Bakersfield at McKale Center.
It was Arizona's 43rd consecutive non-conference win at home, which is the third-longest active streak.
Trier was two points shy of becoming the first Arizona player to score at least 30 points in each of the first three games of the season. Ayton, a 7-foot-1 freshman, had his third consecutive double-double to begin the season with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
No. 8 Florida 108, North Florida 68
Junior guard KeVaughn Allen scored a game-high 18 points as Florida jumped out to a big early lead and never looked back in Gainesville, Fla.
Florida (2-0) has scored more than 100 points in each contest, averaging 112.
The Gators played a solid game on defense, limiting North Florida (0-4) to just 7-of-29 shooting on 3-pointers.
Florida also held a 48-29 edge over the Ospreys in rebounds.
No. 11 Miami 99, Florida A&M 59
CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- Guards Bruce Brown, Ja'Quan Newton, and DJ Vasiljevic scored 15 points each as Miami coasted past Florida A&M.
Freshman guard Chris Lykes added 13 points as Hurricanes (3-0) shot 58.6 percent for the game and forced the Rattlers (0-3) into 19 turnovers.
A&M guard Marcus Barham scored 22 points to lead all scorers.
No. 12 Cincinnati 97, Coppin State 54
CINCINNATI -- Jarron Cumberland scored 17 of his game-high 19 points in the first half and Justin Jenifer added 16, lifting Cincinnati to victory at BB&T Arena.
Cincinnati (3-0) got a scare in the second half when starting guard Jacob Evans III left the game with an apparent hip injury with 10:58 remaining. Evans had 11 points and four assists prior to the injury.
The Bearcats just missed scoring 100 or more points in three straight games for the first time in program history.
Cincinnati hit its first 13 shots to build a 35-13 lead.
No. 13 Notre Dame 105, Chicago State 66
Guard Temple Gibbs scored a career-high 23 points and guard Matt Farrell had 18 as Notre Dame overwhelmed Chicago State at the Edmund Joyce Center in South Bend, Ind.
Freshman D.J. Harvey had 16 points and forward Bonzie Colson added 15 points, nine rebounds and five blocked shots as the Fighting Irish (3-0) posted the second consecutive lopsided victory after stopping Mount St. Mary's by 26 on Tuesday.
Freshman guard Fred Sims Jr. scored 19 points for Chicago State (1-3), which shot 36.1 percent from the field.
