Both are now battle-tested heading into the Sweet 16, as both are looking to continue their improbable run into the Elite 8 and get one game closer to the Final Four.

Despite finishing below .500 in Big 12 conference play this season, the Cyclones are showing exactly why the committee thought they’d be a good option for the tournament. Starting off with an outright win over LSU as 4.5-point underdogs in round 1, the Cyclones then knocked off #3 seeded Wisconsin for the right to play in this one. 

In that one, the Cyclones held the Big Ten Player of the Year Jonny Davis to just 17 points, while the Badgers went just 29.8% from the field and turned the ball over 16 times.

Miami Hurricanes Betting Preview

For the Hurricanes, an opening-round win as a small underdog was also in the cards, as was a big upset in the round of 32. In a game that they led by one at the half, the Hurricanes outscored Auburn 46-29 down the stretch, winning the game outright as 6.5-point underdogs. 

They also won by shutting down Auburn’s best players, keeping Jabari Smith and Walker Kessler to a combined 12 points on the evening.

Not only have both teams gotten here when no one expected it, but they’ve followed similar paths in playing better teams that went cold from the field and turned the ball over an exorbitant number of times. After opening as a pick-em, Miami started getting attention from the jump and I think for good reason. 

While both teams struggle to score the basketball, especially as of late, the Cyclones finished the season ranked 277th in points scored per game at 67.3.  I think we see another big night from Kameron McGusty, and the Hurricanes pull away from this one late.
