Best Bets for Day Two of the Elite Eight (2022 March Madness)
Mar 27, 2022 - 11:00 AMAs the tournament has progressed and we have moved into the Elite Eight, we still have two teams seeded 10 or higher, including 15-seed St. Peter’s. In the first matchup of the day, the Miami Hurricanes will take on the only remaining 1-seed in the form of the Kansas Jayhawks. The St. Peter’s Peacocks are the first team with a seed of 15 or higher to make the Elite Eight in NCAA Tournament history. They take on their polar opposite, in terms of size and pedigree of the program, in the form of the eighth-seeded North Carolina Tar Heels.

#10 Miami vs. #1 Kansas (2:20 PM EST, CBS)
Kansas Team Total OVER 76.5 Points -110 via FanDuel
In order to beat this Miami team, Kansas is going to have to hit shots, rebound, and keep up with the fast pace that the Hurricanes like to play. Luckily for Kansas, this is a fantastic matchup for them on all sides of the ball. The Jayhawks actually play at a faster pace than the Hurricanes and are significantly better at rebounding and three-point defense. As a result of this I think they should be able to get to 80-83 points with ease. I think it will take scoring 78 points to beat Miami here, as the efficiency of their offense is no joke, but Bill Self has been here before and won’t let his boys get flustered. The spreads in the NCAA Tournament are very difficult to read, and I think they got this one right, as it should be a small win for Kansas, but free throws down the stretch make me hesitant to back a side by the spread.
#15 St. Peter’s vs. #8 North Carolina (5:05 PM EST, CBS)
First Half UNDER 65 -115 via DraftKings
It has been an unbelievable run for the Peacocks, and while I think that the sky is the limit for them at this point, I think that they have been able to fluster teams out of the gates and make them play to their style of ball. All eight first halves went under for the first half in the Sweet Sixteen, and I expect UNC to understand that they will win this game by not making mistakes, playing defense, and Armando Bacot needs to show up in a big way here. I think that the first half will be around 32-29 UNC, but I don’t want to take the spread, as I think that the first couple of minutes can be really difficult for both of these teams. Will the clock strike midnight for Cinderella? That remains to be seen, but in the meantime, expect them to not embarrass themselves and come in with a strong game plan once again.
