Texas A&M seeks back-to-back fast starts

Nov 18, 2006 - 6:21 PM Louisiana Tech (0-1) at No. 12 Texas A&M (2-0) 8:00 pm EST

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (Ticker) -- Texas A&M tries to duplicate its outing against Lamar when it faces Louisiana Tech in the Shelby Metcalf Classic on Saturday.

The 12th-ranked Aggies scored the first 11 points and, after the Cardinals finally got on the scoreboard, Texas A&M tallied the next 14 points en route to posting a 94-60 victory Friday.

Joseph Jones scored 14 of his 19 points in the first half and Josh Carter added 12 for the Aggies, who shot a blazing 64 percent before the break.

Freshman Kyle Gibson and Terry Parker Jr. both had 11 points, but it was not nearly enough as Louisiana Tech absorbed a 87-65 season-opening loss to Saint Louis on Friday.

The Aggies conclude this event Sunday against the Billikens while the Bulldogs wrap up the three games in three days set with the Cardinals.
