No. 25 Michigan St tries to stay unbeaten at home vs. IPFW

Dec 6, 2006 - 4:13 PM IPFW (3-5) at No. 25 Michigan St (7-2) 7:00 pm EST

EAST LANSING, Michigan (Ticker) -- Michigan State coach Tom Izzo has his team hitting on all cylinders at home.

The 25th-ranked Spartans seek to raise their record to 7-0 at the Breslin Center this season and add to their run of success against non-conference opponents Wednesday when they host IPFW.

Michigan State has relied on its defense to make things difficult for visiting teams. The Spartans are limiting their opponents to 48 points and 32.2 percent shooting at home, and are averaging 6.22 blocks in their nine overall contests.

After losing to Boston College at last week's ACC-Big Ten Challenge, the Spartans won their 21st consecutive home outing against non-conference foes with Sunday's 82-53 rout of Bradley.

Drew Neitzel scored 20 points, Raymar Morgan added 18 and Travis Walton 15 for the Spartans, who allowed Bradley to shoot just 29 percent (17-of-57) and posted a 45-27 rebounding edge.

IPFW has split its last six contests, including Saturday's 78-66 loss to Air Force. Jakari Johnson scored a season-high 19 points and DeWitt Scott added 15 for the Mastodons.

Michigan State won last season's encounter against IPFW, 84-73, on November 27, 2005, and holds a 2-0 all-time record in the series.
