Feb 13, 2011 - 9:47 PM Durham, NC (Sports Network) - Krystal Thomas led a balanced attack with 16 points and 10 rebounds, as fifth-ranked Duke defeated Boston College, 66-53, in ACC action.Allison Vernerey posted 15 points, while Karima Christmas registered a double- double with 14 points and 11 boards for Duke (23-2, 9-1 ACC), which has won two straight since suffering a 62-60 loss at North Carolina on Monday.
Chelsea Gray contributed 13 points and seven assists for the victors.
Jaclyn Thoman finished with a game-high 21 points to go with six rebounds and five assists for Boston College (17-8, 4-6), which had a brief two-game winning streak snapped and has dropped four of its last six. Stefanie Murphy had 13 points and seven boards in defeat.
Duke held a slim 29-28 lead after the opening half, but Boston College took a brief advantage, 38-37 edge after Thoman hit a jumper with 14:02 remaining.
However, Vernerey's make on Duke's next possession started an 10-2 run. Christmas capped the burst with a layup to put the hosts in front 47-40 with 10:47 to go.
A three-point play by Christmas near the 8 1/2 minute mark stretched the Duke lead to double-digits, 54-43, and it would never let things get away from there.
