Late run helps Vanderbilt get past South Florida
Dec 18, 2006 - 3:45 AM TAMPA, Florida (Ticker) -- Liz Sherwood scored 19 points as No. 12 Vanderbilt used a late run to collect a 76-68 victory over South Florida.Comming off the bench, Sherwood shot 6-of-13 and grabbed nine rebounds, including seven offensive. She had six points during the Commodores' 15-7 run over the final eight minutes.
Carla Thomas scored 18 points and pulled down nine rebounds and Christina Wirth added 12 and 11 for Vanderbilt (9-1), which shot 47 percent (31-of-66) from the field and held a 52-38 advantage on the boards.
The Commodores, who grabbed 19 offensive rebounds, finished with a 50-22 advantage in points in the paint.
Jessica Dickson scored 23 points and Shantia Grace 16 for the Bulls (8-2), who shot 39 percent (25-of-64) and converted just 14-of-31 (45 percent) free throws.
