Harding leads Duke past Pitt in Caribbean Classic

Dec 21, 2006 - 9:21 PM CANCUN, Mexico (Ticker) -- Lindsey Harding scored 22 points and No. 4 Duke remained unbeaten with a 72-51 victory over 22nd-ranked Pittsburgh in a Caribbean Classic matchup.

Harding led four Blue Devils in double figures in scoring by shooting 7-of-10 from the field.

Duke (12-0) held a 36-27 halftime lead and enjoyed a big advantage at the free-throw line over the final 20 minutes to pull away.

The Blue Devils made 30-of-36 free throws overall, including 18-of-19 in the second half. Pitt (12-1) was 13-of-16 from the line in the first half but attempted only two foul shots after the break.

Gay Carrem scored 12 points, Wanisha Smith had 11 and Abby Waner added 10 for Duke, which finished the tournament undefeated with wins over Bowling Green and Southern Methodist.

Marcedes Walker scored 15 points for Pittsburgh, which went 2-1 here, beating East Carolina and Liberty.
