Beck leads George Washington past Georgia
Dec 29, 2006 - 5:34 AM SAN DIEGO (Ticker) -- Kimberly Beck scored 18 points and Sarah-Jo Lawrence added 12 as No. 16 George Washington posted a 66-54 victory over No. 10 Georgia in the first round of the Surf 'N Slam Classic.Kenan Cole added 11 points and six rebounds for the Colonials (10-2), who shot 42 percent (20-of-48) from the field and have won three straight games.
Beck shot 6-of-11 from the floor and 3-of-6 from 3-point range for George Washington, which scored 23 points off 24 turnovers by Georgia.
The Colonials outscored the Lady Bulldogs by 15 in the second half after the game was tied at 25-25 at halftime.
Tasha Humphrey scored 16 points and collected eight rebounds before fouling out for Georgia (11-2), which shot 39 percent (18-of-46).
George Washington will play San Diego State in the final Saturday. Georgia will face Brown in the consolation game.
