Purdue runs away from Penn State

Jan 1, 2007 - 1:32 AM WEST LAFAYETTE, Indiana (Ticker) -- Purdue's defense was too stifling for Penn State.

Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton scored 19 points to lead the 13th-ranked Boilermakers to a 70-44 victory over the Nittany Lions in the Big Ten.

Purdue (13-2, 2-0 Big Ten) led at halftime, 25-21, but pulled away in the second half by limiting Penn State (7-8, 0-2) to just nine points over the final 10 minutes of the game.

The Boilermakers also put a damper on a milestone night for the Nittany Lions' Amanda Brown, who scored 20 points to top 1,000 for her career. She finished 9-of-12 from the field and also grabbed 12 rebounds.

Katie Gearlds scored 12 points and Erin Lawless and Danielle Campbell added 11 apiece for Purdue, which hit 15-of-16 free throws.
