Wirth, Vandy open SEC play in impressive fashion
Jan 5, 2007 - 3:11 AM NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Christina Wirth and No. 10 Vanderbilt opened Southeastern Conference play with a bang.Wirth scored 24 points as the Commodores coasted to a 98-61 destruction of No. 23 Arkansas.
Unstoppable in the low post, Wirth made 10-of-11 shots in 25 dominating minutes.
Caroline Williams scored 15 points and Dee Davis 14 for the Commodores (14-1), who shot 63 percent (19-of-30) in the first half en route to building a 46-25 lead. Vanderbilt shot 62 percent (37-of-60) overall and made 9-of-13 3-pointers.
Donica Crosby scored 15 points for Arkansas (15-2, 0-1), which shot just 30 percent (21-of-69) and committed 16 turnovers.
