Walker's free throws allow Ohio State to survive Penn State

Jan 12, 2007 - 4:10 AM STATE COLLEGE, Pennsylvania (Ticker) -- Freshman Andrea Walker converted two free throws with 1.3 seconds left as No. 8 Ohio State outlasted feisty Penn State, 63-61, in a Big Ten Conference matchup.

Walker was fouled by Trya Grant on a offensive rebound attempt after Maria Moeller missed a 3-pointer. A desperation 3-pointer at the buzzer by Penn State's Kamela Gissendanner was not close.

The Buckeyes' Jessica Davenport scored 13 points but shot just 4-of-11 from the field in 31 minutes and committed five turnovers. She grabbed 10 rebounds, added two blocks and made a steal.

Brandie Hoskins had 12 points and Moeller finished with 10 for Ohio State (14-1, 3-0 Big Ten), which has won seven straight games.

Amanda Brown scored 20 points on 9-of-15 shooting and added 14 rebounds, including six offensive, for the Lady Lions (8-10, 1-4), who went just 39 percent (24-of-62) from the field but outrebounded the Buckeyes, 43-39. Grant added 18 points in 22 minutes off the bench and Gissendanner added 17.
