Vanderbilt overtakes Florida in second half

Jan 15, 2007 - 2:20 AM NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Christina Wirth had a big second half and Vanderbilt followed suit.

Wirth scored 12 of her 20 points after intermission to rally the 12th-ranked Commodores to an 82-69 Southeastern Conference victory over Florida.

Vanderbilt (16-2, 3-1 SEC) trailed, 33-28, at halftime and fell behind by seven before Wirth sparked an 11-0 run to put her team ahead for good, 44-40, with 13:58 to play.

A three-point play by Jennifer Risper extended the lead to double digits, 58-48, with 9:37 left as the Commodores shot 57 percent (17-of-30) in the second half.

Dee Davis scored 13 points and Caroline Williams 12 for the Commodores, who made 11 steals in keeping the Gators (6-12, 0-3) winless in conference play.

Depree Bowden kept Florida in the game with 28 points and 13 rebounds. Bowden made all six of her free throws, helping the Gators finish 16-of-17 at the line.
