Fowles powers LSU past Auburn
Jan 29, 2007 - 1:45 AM BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (Ticker) -- Sylvia Fowles scored 19 points and grabbed 20 rebounds to lead No. 8 Louisiana State to a 65-45 victory over Auburn in a Southeastern Conference game.It was the ninth consecutive double-double and 15th of the season for the 6-6 Fowles, who notched her second career 20-rebound game.
The Lady Tigers (20-2, 6-1 SEC) reached 20 wins for the fifth consecutive season and extended their home winning streak to 42 games.
Quianna Chaney scored 17 points and Ashley Thomas added 11 for LSU, which outrebounded Auburn, 43-33, and held a 13-6 advantage in second-chance points.
Whitney Boddie scored 14 points for the Tigers (15-7, 2-4 SEC), who shot 33 percent (18-of-55) from the field and hit just 1-of-9 3-point attempts.
