Allen leads Ohio State to crucial Big Ten victory
Jan 30, 2007 - 7:29 AM WEST LAFAYETTE, Indiana (Ticker) -- Star Allen scored 21 points to lead No. 7 Ohio State to a 64-55 victory over 13th-ranked Purdue in a Big Ten Conference showdown.Allen was 10-of-12 from the field and added 13 rebounds and three assists for Ohio State (19-1, 8-0 Big Ten), which has won its last 25 games vs. league opponents.
The Buckeyes' conference streak is the longest since they won 36 straight vs. Big Ten foes from 1983-86.
Purdue (19-4, 8-1) took advantage of 15 Ohio State turnovers in the first half to build a 33-30 lead. But the Buckeyes had only three turnovers in the second period while holding the Boilermakers to 8-of-32 shooting from the field.
Marscilla Packer scored 13 points and Brandie Hoskins and Jessica Davenport each added 12 for Ohio State.
Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton had 13 points and eight rebounds and Katie Gearlds added 12 points for Purdue.
