McCoughtry, Louisville outlast Villanova
Jan 31, 2007 - 5:56 AM VILLANOVA, Pennsylvania (Ticker) -- Angel McCoughtry scored 17 points and No. 17 Louisville overcame a late deficit to post a 64-59 victory over Villanova in a Big East Conference matchup.Jazz Covington added 14 points and Yuliya Tokova had nine and 10 rebounds for Louisville (20-2, 6-2 Big East).
Villanova had a 57-55 lead with 3:33 to play but Covington tied the game with a basket and McCoughtry hit a pair of free throws to make it 59-57 with 2:07 to play.
Heather Scanlon scored for the Wildcats to forge a 59-59 tie with 1:58 to go but Villanova never scored again and Tokova made two free throws to give the Cardinals a 61-59 lead with 1:09 left.
Patrika Barlow added two free throws with 20 seconds on the clock and split a pair with six seconds left to cap the scoring.
Stacie Witman scored 15 points for Villanova (7-14, 1-7).
