Hicks, Washington shock No. 20 California in OT
Feb 9, 2007 - 7:25 AM BERKELEY, California (Ticker) -- Cameo Hicks said no lead is too large to over come.Hicks scored 27 points and Andrea Plouffe added 17 and 13 rebounds off the bench as Washington posted a 79-76 overtime victory over No. 20 California in a Pac-10 Conference battle.
Emily Florence had 12 points, seven rebounds and six assists for the Huskies, who erased a 19-point second-half deficit and held a 7-4 edge in overtime for the win.
In regulation, Plouffe hit a jumper with 25 seconds remaining as Washington grabbed a 72-71 bulge. But Ashley Walker split a pair of free throws 19 seconds later, sending the game into OT.
Washington (15-10, 8-6 Pac-10) shot 40 percent (30-of-74) from the floor and scored 18 points off 20 turnovers.
Devanei Hampton collected 25 points and 13 rebounds and Walker scored 19 points for the Golden Bears (18-6, 8-5), who were outscored, 50-36, in the second half.
