Langhorne, Maryland hold on for third straight win

Feb 11, 2007 - 10:20 PM CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia (Ticker) -- Crystal Langhorne scored 19 points and grabbed 15 rebounds as sixth-ranked Maryland posted an 83-74 Atlantic Coast Conference victory over Virginia.

Marissa Coleman added 18 points and 12 boards as the Lady Terrapins (24-3, 8-3 ACC) overcame a letdown in the second half en route to their third straight victory.

Taking advantage of its size advantage inside, Maryland built a 47-27 lead at the half. That cushion was tested after the break as Virginia (14-11, 3-7) took advantage of numerous trips to the free-throw line to score 47 points.

Jade Perry scored 13 points and Laura Harper added seven and 11 rebounds for the Lady Terrapins, who finished with a 42-28 advantage in points in the paint and 52-42 edge on the boards.

After starting the season with 18 straight wins, Maryland had been 1-2 in its previous three road games prior to Sunday, losing at then-No. 3 Duke and Georgia Tech.

Monica Wright scored 19 points and Lyndra Littles added 14 and 16 rebounds for the Cavaliers, who had a two-game winning streak snapped despite converting 20-of-24 (83 percent) free throws.
