Gearlds, Purdue hold off Michigan
Feb 16, 2007 - 4:19 AM ANN ARBOR, Michigan (Ticker) -- Katie Gearlds scored 21 points and Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton had 19 and seven rebounds as 15th-ranked Purdue held on for a 59-54 victory over Michigan in a Big Ten Conference meeting.Jodi Howell collected eight points and six rebounds for the Boilermakers (22-5, 11-2 Big Ten), who shot 48 percent (24-of-50) but had a tough time against the pesky Wolverines.
Gearlds was 8-of-18 from the floor, including 2-of-7 on 3-pointers, and Wisdom-Hylton shot 9-of-14 for Purdue, which trailed by one point at halftime before pulling away in the second half.
Carly Benson scored 15 points for Michigan (10-16, 3-10), which shot just 34 percent (17-of-50).
