Williams, Vanderbilt beat up on Mississippi State

Feb 16, 2007 - 4:53 AM STARKVILLE, Mississippi (Ticker) -- Caroline Williams scored 24 points and grabbed five rebounds as No. 13 Vanderbilt routed Southeastern Conference rival Mississippi State, 84-64.

Carla Thomas had 12 points and Jennifer Risper added 10 points and six rebounds for Vanderbilt (22-4, 8-3 SEC), which led throughout en route to its fifth straight win.

Williams hit 7-of-15 shots, including 6-of-12 3-pointers, and Dee Davis handed out six assists for the Commodores.

Marneshia Richard had 15 points and seven rebounds and Alexis Rack added 14 and seven for Mississippi State (16-10, 6-5), which lost despite having five players score in double-figures.

The Rebels absorbed their second straight loss in home league games in part because of turnovers, committing 20 that the Commodores turned into 27 points.
