Parker powers Tennessee past Vanderbilt
Feb 25, 2007 - 9:01 PM KNOXVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Tennessee made a shambles of its showdown with intrastate rival Vanderbilt.Candace Parker had 21 points, 14 rebounds and six blocked shots as the second-ranked Lady Vols completed a perfect Southeastern Conference schedule with a 73-53 over the 12th-ranked Commodores.
Tennessee (27-2, 14-0 SEC) beat Vanderbilt for the 13th straight time and finished unbeaten in the SEC for the seventh time in school history.
Shannon Bobbitt added 14 points and Sidney Spencer 10 for the Lady Vols, who outrebounded Vanderbilt, 43-33.
Carla Thomas scored 23 points on 8-of-13 shooting but she was the only player in double figures for the Commodores, who shot 33 percent (18-of-55) from the field.
