Chambers sparks Georgia past Arkansas
Feb 25, 2007 - 10:11 PM ATHENS, Georgia (Ticker) -- Cori Chambers help Georgia wrap up the No. 2 seed for the upcoming Southeastern Conference Tournament.Chambers scored 17 points to lead the 12th-ranked Lady Bulldogs to a 69-51 victory over conference foe Arkansas.
Georgia (24-5, 11-3 SEC) clinched the second seed in the conference tourney with the win and Vanderbilt's loss to Tennessee on Sunday.
The Lady Bulldogs held a slim 30-27 lead at halftime but shot 50 percent (16-of-32) after the break to pull away.
Ashley Houts added 15 points and Tasha Humphrey eight and 11 rebounds as Georgia held a 48-31 edge on the backboards.
Dominique Washington and Lauren Ervin scored 14 points apiece for Arkansas (18-12, 3-11), which led by as many as 11 points in the first half.
