Wirth, Vanderbilt doominates Georgia in SEC semifinals
Mar 4, 2007 - 5:49 AM DULUTH, Georgia (Ticker) -- Christina Wirth scored 21 points as No. 13 Vanderbilt took an early lead and never looked back after crushing No. 12 Georgia, 81-56, in the Southeastern Conference tournament semifinals.Meredith Marsh had 15 points and six assists off the bench and Carla Thomas added 13 points and four steals as Vanderbilt (26-5, 2-0 SEC) advanced to the tournament championship game to play Louisiana State.
The Commodores shot 57 percent (25-of-44) from the floor and made 7-of-13 3-point attempts (62 percent) and held a 26-13 advantage in points off of turnovers.
Tasha Humphrey scored 17 points and collected 12 rebounds and Cori Chambers added 17 points as Georgia (25-6, 1-1) shot only 33 percent (20-of-61) and 16 percent (3-of-19) from behind the arc.
