Davis-Cain, Miller help Florida State advance in NCAA opener
Mar 17, 2007 - 10:29 PM STANFORD, California (Ticker) -- Old Dominion had no answers for the 1-2 punch of Tanae Davis-Cain and Britany Miller.Davis-Cain scored 24 points and Miller added 20 as 10th-seed Florida State posted an 85-75 Fresno Regional triumph over the seventh seed Lady Monarchs in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.
Alicia Gladden collected 18 points and six assists and Mara Freshour scored 12 for Florida, which will play the winner of Stanford and Idaho State in the second round on Monday.
With an one-point lead at halftime, the Seminoles (23-9) pulled away in the second half with a 12-5 run capped by Miller's layup with 15:15 left for a 52-44 edge.
Tiffany Green netted 17 points and Shahida Williams chipped in 16 for Old Dominion (24-9), which had its season-high 12-game winning streak ended.
