Montgomery, Thomas lead Connecticut over Colorado State
Dec 22, 2006 - 5:30 AM STORRS, Connecticut (Ticker) -- Renee Montgomery and Mel Thomas proved to be a deadly combination.Montgomery and Thomas scored 19 points apiece and led five double-figure scorers as sixth-ranked Connecticut routed Colorado State, 93-58.
Kalana Greene had 17 points and eight rebounds for the Huskies, who shot 54 percent (33-of-61) from the field and outrebounded the Rams, 43-23.
Montgomery and Thomas combined to shoot 11-of-22 from the floor, 6-of-14 on 3-pointers and 10-of-12 from the line for the Huskies (8-0), who used a stellar offensive performance in the first half to race to a 55-27 lead at halftime.
Kelly Jo Mullaney scored 18 points for Colorado State (5-6), which shot just 37.5 percent (18-of-48).
