Howell lifts Purdue past Michigan State

Jan 12, 2007 - 5:00 AM EAST LANSING, Michigan (Ticker) -- Purdue now stands alone atop the Big Ten Conference.

Jodi Howell hit seven 3-pointers to finish with 25 points as the 13th-ranked Boilermakers pulled away for a 70-60 victory over No. 20 Michigan State.

Howell was 9-of-11 from the field, including 7-of-9 from the arc, to keep Purdue (15-3, 4-0 Big Ten) unbeaten in conference play.

After Michigan State (12-4, 3-1) had taken its last lead at 51-50 midway through the second half, Howell buried a 3-pointer to put Purdue ahead for good and trigger a 17-2 spurt that made it 67-53 with 2:07 left.

Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton had 19 points and 11 rebounds and Erin Lawless scored all seven of her points in the game-breaking run for the Boilermakers, who had 12 steals.

Allyssa DeHaan, a 6-9 freshman center, had a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds for the Spartans, who were a abysmal 5-of-23 from the arc.
