McCoughtry, Louisville edge Rutgers
Jan 22, 2007 - 5:46 AM LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (Ticker) -- Angel McCoughtry had 20 points and 16 rebounds as No. 15 Louisville posted a 53-50 victory over Rutgers in a Big East Conference game.Jass Covington added 13 points for the Cardinals, who shot just 36 percent (19-of-53) from the field and 8-of-22 from the arc. However, they used a slim 43-41 rebounding advantage and 15 second-chance points to secure the victory.
McCoughtry was 6-of-17 from the floor, and Covington shot 6-of-11 for Louisville (18-2, 4-2 Big East), which overcame a slim 24-22 halftime deficit.
Essence Carson scored 14 points for the Scarlet Knights (10-6, 5-2), who shot 36 percent (21-of-59) and committed 17 turnovers.
