Duke uses balance to down FSU, stay undefeated

Jan 26, 2007 - 2:49 AM TALLAHASSEE, Florida (Ticker) -- Florida State had no answer for Alison Bales and the rest of Duke's starting five.

Bales led all five starters in double figures with 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds to help the top-ranked Blue Devils remain unbeaten with a 73-60 Atlantic Coast Conference victory over the Seminoles.

With the victory, Duke (21-0, 6-0 ACC) notched the best start in school history.

Carrem Gay added 14 points and eight rebounds, Abby Waner 13 points, Wanisha Smith 12 and Lindsey Harding 10 for the Blue Devils, who led by as many as 17 points in the second half.

Alicia Gladden scored 17 points but made just 7-of-18 shots for Florida State (15-5, 4-1), which was limited to just 34 percent (25-of-73) from the floor.

Britany Miller added 14 points for the Seminoles, who made just 2-of-15 3-pointers.
