Humphrey, Darrah power Georgia to win over Ole Miss

Jan 26, 2007 - 4:00 AM ATHENS, Georgia (Ticker) -- Tasha Humphrey and Megan Darrah proved too much for Mississippi in the second half.

Humphrey and Darrah combined for 35 of their 48 points in the second half as No. 15 Georgia pulled away for a 69-60 victory over the 25th-ranked Rebels in a Southeastern Conference contest.

With the game tied at 28-28 at the break, Humphrey scored the opening six points of the second half for the Lady Bulldogs (17-4, 4-2 SEC). Despite the early burst, Georgia needed Darrah's 3-pointer with 13:08 remaining to tie the score at 37-37.

Darrah added two more 3-pointers during an 11-3 spurt that put the Lady Bulldogs ahead, 45-40, with 9:23 remaining.

Humphrey, who finished with a season-high 32 points and 14 rebounds, later scored 12 straight points for Georgia, which finished the contest shooting 42 percent (27-of-64) and held a slim 44-42 edge on the boards.

Darrah, who shot 4-of-6 from the arc, had 16 points.

Ashley Awkward had 15 points and Armintie Prince chipped in 11 and 11 rebounds for Mississippi (16-5, 5-1), which went 35.5 percent (22-of-62) from the field.
