Johnson leads Michigan State past Illinois

Feb 4, 2007 - 10:33 PM EAST LANSING, Michigan (Ticker) -- Mia Johnson scored 22 points and Michigan State beat Illinois for the seventh straight time with an 80-70 victory in a Big Ten Conference matchup.

Johnson made four 3-pointers and was 8-of-8 from the line for the Spartans (17-6, 8-2 Big Ten), who have won two straight after a two-game losing skid.

Aisha Jefferson scored 19 points and Allyssa DeHaan added 14 off the bench for Michigan State. DeHaan was 7-of-8 from the field and added seven rebounds and three blocks.

Lori Bjork had 19 points and Danyel Crutcher 10 for Illinois (16-6, 6-4).

Bjork pulled the Illini within 65-64 on a basket with 4:18 to play but the Spartans responded with a 15-6 run to close out the game.
