Humphrey scores 28 as Georgia wins in overtime

Feb 16, 2007 - 4:42 AM LEXINGTON, Kentucky (Ticker) -- Tasha Humphrey scored 28 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as No. 12 Georgia posted an 82-72 overtime victory over Kentucky in a Southeastern Conference matchup.

The Lady Bulldogs (22-5, 9-3 SEC) won their third consecutive game and eighth in their last nine by recording their 11th triumph over the Wildcats in 12 encounters.

After Angel Robinson hit a layup with 9:28 left in the second half to give Georgia a 56-45 lead, Kentucky gradually came back and forced overtime on Carly Ormerod's layup with nine seconds to go in regulation.

Cori Chambers and Janese Hardrick hit 3-pointers as the Bulldogs opened the extra period with a 10-4 run. Georgia sealed the victory by making 6-of-8 free throws down the stretch.

Humphrey made 11-of-26 shots, Hardrick scored 12 points and Chambers, Robinson and Cristy Marshall added 11 each for Georgia.

Samantha Mahoney scored 23 points and Sarah Elliott added 17 for the Wildcats (16-11, 5-7), who lost for the fifth time in seven games.
