Davenport, Ohio State shoot past Penn State

Feb 23, 2007 - 7:05 AM COLUMBUS, Ohio (Ticker) -- Jessica Davenport scored 26 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead No. 6 Ohio State past Big Ten Conference rival Penn State, 78-61.

Star Allen had 22 points and grabbed five rebounds and Ashlee Trebilcock added 17 points for Ohio State (25-2, 14-1 Big Ten), which remains on top of the Big Ten and clinched at least a share of its third conference title in a row.

Davenport made 10-of-17 shots and converted 6-of-7 free throws for the Buckeyes, who shot 65 percent (31-of-48) from the field.

Tyra Grant came off the bench to score 17 points and Kamel Gissendanner added 16 and grabbed six rebounds for Penn State (13-15, 6-9), which shot 49 percent (25-of-51) from the floor and held a 21-8 advantage in bench points.

The Nittany Lions have lost five of their last seven games.
