Ellis leads Marquette to victory over St. John's
Feb 27, 2007 - 3:25 AM JAMAICA, New York (Ticker) -- Krystal Ellis scored 19 points and No. 23 Marquette got off to a fast start and held on for a 69-60 victory over St. John's in a Big East Conference matchup.Marquette had a 10-9 lead early in the first half before going on a 17-2 run to open up a 27-11 edge. Ellis scored six points during the burst.
Christina Quay scored 14 points for the Golden Eagles (24-5, 12-4 Big East), who held the Red Storm to 22 percent (7-of-32) shooting in the first half while opening up a 31-17 lead.
Kia Wright scored 23 points and Monique McLean added 14 for St. John's (8-19, 4-12).
