Hampton, Walker help California advance past Oregon

Mar 3, 2007 - 11:51 PM SAN JOSE, California (Ticker) -- Devanei Walker scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds as No. 24 California posted a 63-51 Pac-10 Conference Tournament victory over Oregon.

Natasha Vital had 16 points and three steals and Ashley Walker added 12 and 10 boards for the third-seeded Golden Bears, who advanced to the semifinals to face No. 2 seed Arizona State on Sunday.

Hampton, named the Pac-10's Player of the Year on Thursday, shot 9-of-16 from the field for Cal (23-7), which matched its second-most victories in a season, trailing only the 24 accomplished by the 1983-84 team.

Carolyn Ganes scored 19 points and Tamika Nurse had 12 for the Ducks (16-13), who trailed by just one at halftime. However, they were outscored in the second half, 36-25.
