January, Thompson lead Arizona State past UCLA
Mar 4, 2007 - 2:35 AM SAN JOSE, California (Ticker) -- Briann January scored 18 points and Kirsten Thompson added 14 and five rebounds as No. 7 Arizona State posted a 74-64 victory over UCLA in the quarterfinals of the Pac-10 Conference Tournament.Emily Westerberg had 13 points and eight boards and Aubree Johnson added eight points for the second-seeded Sun Devils (27-3), who will face three seed California in the semifinals on Sunday.
The Golden Bears beat Oregon, 63-51, earlier Saturday.
January shot 5-of-8 from the floor, including 2-of-2 from 3-point range, for Arizona State coach Charli Turner Thorne, who is one victory shy of 200 wins at the school.
Noelle Quinn scored 25 points and handed out six assists and Chinyere Ibekwe added 16 and seven rebounds for the Bruins (14-18), who ended the season with six losses in their last seven conference games.
